At Waterford Early Learning Centre we aim to provide professional, quality care and education for your children, and provide a warm, safe, friendly and relaxed environment for all children, parents and staff.

Our Centre's Philosophy

  • Waterford Early Learning Centre is an inclusive environment; we strive to act in the best interests of all children and their families at all times.
  • Our staff aim to create and maintain safe and healthy spaces and places to enhance children’s learning and development and to encourage initiative, dignity self respect in a trusting and caring environment.
  • Each child will be recognised as a unique individual and acknowledged as a competent learner, regardless of their gender, age, ability, family structure, lifestyle, religion, language, culture and national origin.
  • Children will be encouraged to feel safe in their environment and to learn and explore through a play based program which incorporates the Early Years Learning Framework and learning about and caring for our environment, natural and living things, relationships with others and communication skills.
  • Staff will acknowledge families values and strengths and promote positive relationships, respecting their input and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Staff members will collaborate and continually reflect on their practices to promote positive thinking and a stimulating educational environment for the children in their care.
  • Waterford Early Learning Centre will act as an advocate for children in relation to child care issues and will work in partnerships with outside resources to meet any needs of the children.

Our Centre's Goals

Assessment & Rating

Waterford Early Learning Centre is now operating under the National Quality Framework and National Quality Standards. Throughout the year the centre will be assessed by Authorised Officers to ensure we are keeping in line with the required standards and framework. 

Goals of the Curriculum

The most important goal of our Early Childhood program is to help children become enthusiastic learners. We can promote this by encouraging children to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their ideas and to think their own thoughts.

Our goal is to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners. We’re teaching them HOW to learn, not just in the child care setting, but all through their lives. We’re allowing them to learn at their own pace and in the ways that are best for them. We’re developing good habits and attitudes, particularly a positive self-esteem, which will make a difference throughout their lives.

Our Curriculum identifies Goals in all areas of Development.

  • Social: to help children feel comfortable here in their new environment, make friends, feel part of a group, and develop positive and appropriate social skills for life.
  • Emotional: to help the children develop independence and self-control, experience pride and self confidence, and have a positive attitude towards life.
  • Cognitive (Intellectual): to help children become confident learners by letting them try out their ideas and experience success, and by helping them acquire learning skills such as the ability to solve problems, ask questions, and use words to describe their ideas, observations and feelings.
  • Physical: to help children develop and increase their gross and fine motor skills and feel confident about what their body can do.

Our Centre's Program

The activities we plan for children, the way we organise the environment, select toys and materials, plan the daily program, and talk with children, are all carefully designed to accomplish the goals of our curriculum and give your child a successful start in life. We run our program based on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and plan our program around the learning outcomes in this framework.

When you visit Waterford Early Learning Centre, you see rooms and the playground full of children playing. Like most parents, you probably wonder what your child is learning. To answer your questions we have daily and weekly programs, listing the typical things children do when they play in each area of the room, and the concepts they may be exploring. Our staff are happy to discuss this with you, please feel free to ask them about it.

Hours of Operation

Waterford Early Learning Centre operates from 6.00am – 6:30 pm, Monday to Friday 52 weeks per year. The Centre is closed for all Public Holidays.

Management/Licensed Places

Waterford Early Learning Centre is a licensed centre providing care for 88 children between the ages of 6weeks and 6 years.

HALDER PTY LIMITED is a private family company and the directors are as follows: -Wayne Halder & Heather Havens. The Authorised Supervisor is the licensee.

Garrett Halder is the manager of the service.

Background Information

This service operates under the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011, The Education and Care Service National Law Act 2010 & The National Quality Framework.

Copies of these Documents are available at all times at the Office. A copy of our licence is displayed in the foyer.

The grounds and buildings, equipment and amenities comply with the Building Code of Australia.
